Nuclear-Data Experimental Programs at GSI

چکیده

At GSI, Darmstadt, an extended series of measurements on nuclear-reaction products has been performed. The work is based on an innovative experimental approach, which exploits the unique installations of GSI: The accelerator complex provides heavy-ion beams at relativistic energies, while a high-resolution magnetic spectrometer is used to identify the reaction products in-flight and to determine their kinematical properties. The storage ring extends the facility to a unique place for determining the ground-state masses of exotic nuclei on large areas of the chart of the nuclides.

New Insights into the Fission Process by the Study of Relativistic Nuclear Collisions

An experimental and theoretical campaign dedicated to a better understanding of the fission process has been started at GSI several years ago. The waste amount of data measured at GSI gave new information on different aspects of the nuclear-fission process, such as nuclear viscosity at small deformation, transient effects, influence of shell effects on massand charge-division in fission, pairin...

Further evidence for the predicted repulsive K nucleon potential in nuclear matter New data from the KAOS spectrometer at GSI reveal an azimuthally anisotropic distribution of K mesons in relativistic gold-gold collisions. In peripheral and semi-central collisions, K mesons are preferentially emitted perpendicular to the reaction plane. The results are consistent with the theoretical prediction...

Planned Storage Ring Complex at GSI

Major research fields at the proposed accelerator facility at GSI are Antiproton (pbar) physics, nuclear physics with rare isotope (RI) beams and atomic physics. Various storage rings (SR) will give access to novel experiments. In the Conceptual Design Report (CDR) [1] a 13 Tm-SR complex consisting of a Collector Ring CR, a New Experimental Storage Ring NESR, and a 50 Tm-High Energy Storage Rin...

Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions within 3-Fluid Hydrodynamics I. Hadronic Scenario

A 3-fluid hydrodynamic model for relativistic heavy-ion collisions is a joint project of GSI, Kurchatov Inst. and JINR. It is primarily aimed to study physics related to the future GSI facility, i.e. relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions at incident energies Elab ' 10 − 40 A·GeV. In this energy range the highest baryon densities and highest relative strangeness at moderate temperatures are ex...
